Hundreds of Kiwis gather in major cities around the country to march for Moko
Organisers of "I Will March for Moko" events in Auckland, Hamilton, Lower Hutt, Christchurch, Nelson and Oamaru are appalled at the story of Moko Rangitoheriri. The three-year-old died of injuries inflicted while he was in the care of a Taupo couple, who pleaded guilty last Monday to his manslaughter. The case comes several years after the horrific death of three-year-old Nia Glassie, prompting child advocates to ask if lessons relating to child abuse have been learnt. Organiser of the march Karis Vesey says as a mother she is appalled at child abuse rates in New Zealand. "Today is about saying enough is enough," she said. Karis says that as a nation, New Zealand can take a stand against domestic violence and today they stand with Moko's mother Nicola.
